What's happening at HNPL in March 2026?

Hello, patrons! As we welcome the warmer weather of March, HNPL invites you to participate in our Spring Reading Challenge. Learn more about the challenge and upcoming events, programs, and opportunities below. We hope to see you in the library soon!

Spring Into Reading: Reading Challenge

March 1–31 | All Ages

For every 30 minutes of reading logged (up to 300), you will be automatically entered in the drawing for a themed book bundle. Two youth, two teen, and two

adult winners will be determined at the end of the challenge. Also, earn badges and collect rewards when you hit reading milestones. Registration starts March 1.

To be eligible to win, all adults must have a current HNPL card in good standing, while all minors (or their parent) must have a current HNPL card in good standing.

Chili and Soup Cook-off

March 12 | 5:00–7:00 PM | Jenkins Meeting Room | All Ages

Friends of the Library are hosting a Chili & Soup Cook-off! Bring your best chili or soup and your spare change. We will be tasting everyone's creations and voting on the best. The chili or soup that makes the most money wins a gift card.

Don't cook? That's okay! Come on in and test out the chili or soup creations from those who do. Use your spare change to vote for the best.

All proceeds go to HNPL Friends for summer reading and other projects.

Pokémon GO Party

March 14 | 11:00 AM–12:00 PM | Jenkins Meeting Room | All Ages

We’ll have your Poké Ball ready to go so you can hunt for Pokemon stickers hidden in the Library.

Rooted in Art

HNPL Friends of the Library's biggest fundraiser ever has kicked off! Paint a small 4"X4" tile and it will become part of this beautiful 8'x8' mosaic mural.

Your painting kit is $25 and includes everything you need - tile, paint, brushes, and ideas!

Visit the library to purchase your tile painting kit and join us on this incredible journey to raise money for our library art programs and Makerspace.

Color Page-Palooza

March 3 | 10:30 AM–2:30 PM | Children's Department | All Ages

Do you love to color? We'll have a bunch of coloring pages set out and all the supplies you'll need. All ages are welcome to color with us. We will even keep and display them in the Children's Room, if you like!

LEGO Builders Club

March 4 | 4:00–5:00 PM | Storytime Room | Ages: 5–10 (Suggested)

March 19 | 4:30–5:30 PM | Storytime Room | Ages: 5–10 (Suggested)

We’ll provide the LEGOs, just bring your imagination. At the end, we'll take a picture of your creation for you to take home and display. Let's get creative!

Please note: Children under 8 must be supervised by an adult. Children 8-10 must be supervised by someone 14 or older.

Art exploration with a focus on individual creativity. Must register in advance.

STEM Explorers Club

March 11 | 4:00–5:00 PM | Storytime Room | Ages: 6+

Experiment of the Month: Dancing Rice

Put your imagination and skills to the test with our monthly STEM challenge club! Workshop stations feature fun and exciting interactive play and activities designed to foster teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving.

Animal of the Month: Rabbits

Join us as we learn about an animal that lives in Indiana. Stories, songs, and a fun craft, it's sure to be a blast!

Mystery Book Club

March 23 | 3:30–4:30 PM | Meeting Room A/B

Come join us for the monthly Mystery Book Club meeting! New members are always welcome. We will be discussing Harlan Coben's The Boy from the Woods. Hope to see you there!

Gaming Hangout (w/Switch 2)

We’re leveling up with our multi-player Nintendo Switch 2! Whether you want to race your friends in a round of Mario Kart, go CrossWorlds with Sonic, or challenge everyone to a tennis match in Switch Sports, come join us for all the gaming fun.

Clay Coil Pots

March 26 | 5:00–6:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 12+

Who said you need a potter’s wheel to make a clay pot? Use the coiling technique to design your pot using air dry clay. Paint it however you like when it dries.

Registration is required.

Table Top Games

Bring the whole family and challenge them to games of skill, chance, and loads of fun! We’ll have Mahjong, Yahtzee, Uno, Scrabble, Battleship, and many more!

Monday Matinee Movie

Movie of the Month: Rise of the Guardians

Come watch an action-packed adventure. Popcorn/snacks and water provided.

Mocktails & Booktales

Come join us as we converse about books we are reading, while enjoying some non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers. This month's book is First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston.

You don't have to read the book to join us. We are always looking for new suggestions.

Wee Readers Storytime

Join us for fun stories, songs, and a simple craft!

Please note: There will be no Wee Readers Storytime on March 3.

Open Makerspace Hours

Wednesdays & Fridays

2:30–4:30 PM | Makerspace | All Ages

Looking for a space to work on your arts and crafts? Hamilton North Public Library now has Open Makerspace Hours just for that. Come in to use our sewing machines to fix a hem, or make a birthday card for a friend or a relative. We still have paints, brushes, pencils, and canvas if you are looking to paint or draw.

Have a suggestion on what should be in the Makerspace? Please let the staff know your ideas.

Full STEAM Ahead Storytime

Thursdays

10:30–11:15 AM | Storytime Room | Ages: 0–5

Join us for STEAM-based stories, music with movement, and interactive play stations. A whole new way to experience storytime!

Please note: There will be no Full STEAM Ahead Storytime on March 5.

HNPL Knitters

Mondays

10:00 AM–12:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 18+

A group for beginners and experienced knitters of all levels. Bring your knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and other yarn projects and work on them with others in this cozy community. Don't have a project? No worries! We will get you started on one. There is room for everyone of all experiences!

Open Art Studio

Tuesdays

12:00–2:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 18+

This is a great opportunity to network with other local artists, work on your art projects, and have fun at the library! Bring your projects and supplies to our Makerspace. The library has some basic art supplies, such as paints, brushes, and paper you may use along with your own personal supplies. Join us. It's free! No registration required.
