What's happening at HNPL in April 2026?

Hello patrons! With a new month comes new exciting programs, including our Friends of the Library's Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser and Silent Basket Auction. Learn more about these upcoming events, programs, and opportunities by exploring each one below. We hope to see you in the library soon!

Spaghetti Dinner Library Fundraiser

April 12 | 11:30 AM–2:00 PM | Jenkins Wing | All Ages

Spring is here and that means it’s time for the annual Spaghetti Fundraiser and Silent Basket Auction! Join the Friends of the Library for a delicious dinner including pasta, bread sticks, salad, and hand-crafted desserts, all for a Free Will donation.

You’ll also have the opportunity to put in your last-minute bid on a wide variety of gift baskets in the Silent Basket Auction. Items will be awarded to the highest bidder at 1:45 PM. All proceeds benefit the library’s Summer Reading Program.

Silent Basket Auction

All proceeds from the auction will benefit Friends of the Library and the Summer Reading program.

Easter Egg Decorating

Come decorate Easter eggs with us! All supplies will be provided.

Earth Day Party: Snacks Around the World

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than snacks from around the world? We'll also have some fun activities for you to enjoy, so come taste a variety of treats and vote on your favorite!

Rooted in Art

HNPL Friends of the Library's biggest fundraiser ever has kicked off! Paint a small 4"X4" tile and it will become part of this beautiful 8'x8' mosaic mural.

Your painting kit is $25 and includes everything you need - tile, paint, brushes, and ideas!

Visit the library to purchase your tile painting kit and join us on this incredible journey to raise money for our library art programs and Makerspace.

LEGO Open Build

Stop by and build to your heart's content. We’ll provide the LEGOs, just bring your imagination.

Please note: Children under 8 must be supervised by an adult. Children 8-10 must be supervised by someone 14 or older.

Animal of the Month: Ducks

Join us as we learn about an animal that lives in Indiana. Stories, songs, and a fun craft, it's sure to be a blast!

Movie of the Month: 12 Angry Men

Join us for this absolute classic. See you movie lovers there!

Gaming Hangout (w/Switch 2)

We’re leveling up with our multi-player Nintendo Switch 2! Whether you want to race your friends in a round of Mario Kart, go CrossWorlds with Sonic, or challenge everyone to a tennis match in Switch Sports, come join us for all the gaming fun.

Slips, Trips, and Falls Seminar

April 23 | 3:00–5:00 PM | Jenkins Meeting Room | All Ages

Did you know the number one call for most Fire Departments is assistance because someone has fallen?

Partners and Friends of the Hamilton North Public Library present the Slips, Trips, and Falls Seminar. Join us as Jim Ginder from the Hamilton County Health Department and the Cicero Fire Department teaches you how to prevent falls and what to do if you do fall. Snacks and drinks will be served.

Mystery Book Club

Mocktails & Booktales

April 28 | 5:30–6:30 PM | Meeting Room A/B

Come join us as we converse about books we are reading, while enjoying some non-alcoholic drinks and appetizers. This month's book is Belle Cora by Phillip Margulies.

You don't have to read the book to join us. We are always looking for new suggestions.

LEGO Builders Club

April 29 | 4:00–5:00 PM | Storytime Room | Ages: 5+

We’ll provide the LEGOs, just bring your imagination. At the end, we'll take a picture of your creation for you to take home and display. Let's get creative!

DIY Scratch Art

April 30 | 5:00–6:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 12+

Explore the simple but colorful world of scratch art! Reveal the color underneath the black paint as you carve out your design. Also, learn how to create your own DIY scratch art sheets to continue the art making back home.

Registration is required.

Open Makerspace Hours

Looking for a space to work on your arts and crafts? Hamilton North Public Library now has Open Makerspace Hours just for that. Come in to use our sewing machines to fix a hem, or make a birthday card for a friend or a relative. We still have paints, brushes, pencils, and canvas if you are looking to paint or draw.

Have a suggestion on what should be in the Makerspace? Please let the staff know your ideas.

Full STEAM Ahead Storytime

Join us for STEAM-based stories, music with movement, and interactive play stations. A whole new way to experience storytime!

HNPL Knitters

Mondays

10:00 AM–12:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 18+

A group for beginners and experienced knitters of all levels. Bring your knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and other yarn projects and work on them with others in this cozy community. Don't have a project? No worries! We will get you started on one. There is room for everyone of all experiences!

Open Art Studio

Tuesdays

12:00–2:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 18+

This is a great opportunity to network with other local artists, work on your art projects, and have fun at the library! Bring your projects and supplies to our Makerspace. The library has some basic art supplies, such as paints, brushes, and paper you may use along with your own personal supplies. Join us. It's free! No registration required.

Tip of the Month

Do you know you can read your library books on your Kindle? Check out the Libby by Overdrive app. Once you enter your card number and pin (make sure you use our library, Hamilton North Public Library) you can start looking for Kindle books.
