The March Madness Book Sale is happening this March! There will be tables of books, CDs, and audiobooks as far as the eye can see for you to choose from. All proceeds go to the 2026 Summer Reading program and Friends of the Library improvement projects. Have unwanted books? Donate them and they'll be added to our sale. We'll give them an opportunity to find a new home!

Celebrate the end of winter with the HNPL Friends of the Library Chili Cook-off! Bring in your best chili for judging and, of course, tasting. There will be prizes.
Not a cook? That's ok! Join the fun by tasting and voting for your favorite using your spare change. No matter how you like it, spicy, hot, or mild, all proceeds go to the HNPL Friends for summer reading and other library programming.

STEM Storytime: Sink or Float? A Water Science Adventure

Introducing STEM Storytime! Listen to a story about sinking and floating, participate in some hands-on experiments at our water table, then build your own boat and see if it will sink or float. Introducing a new book club, I Survived Book Club! Join us for a fun afternoon as we eat snacks, do activities, conduct experiments, and watch short videos related to the historical events of the book. This month's book is I Survived the San Francisco Earthquake, 1906 by Lauren Tarshis. You do not have to read the book ahead of time, but it may help when we discuss it. Is your child reading but needs to build their confidence? Meet Betsy, a certified therapy dog that would be more than happy to listen to any story told to her. She's sweet, lovable, and would never judge! Sign up at the circulation desk or call the desk at (317) 984-5623 for a spot. Walk-ins are welcome, but will have to wait for an opening.

Get your hands dirty as you practice shading using charcoal! Train your eye to notice how shadows interact with different shapes to create a sense of depth. Recreate the still life yourself from scratch or practice shading with some pre-drawn shapes. Register here.

Join us to watch anime, eat snacks, sketch your favorite anime and manga characters, discuss your favorite anime shows/movies and manga books, and make suggestions for our collection! A group for beginners and experienced knitters of all levels. Bring your knitting, crochet, cross stitch, and other yarn projects and work on them with others in this cozy community. Don't have a project? No worries! We will get you started on one. There is room for everyone of all experiences!

Tuesdays | 12:00–2:00 PM | Makerspace | Ages: 18+
This is a great opportunity to network with other local artists, work on your art projects, and have fun at the library! Bring your projects and supplies to our Makerspace. The library has some basic art supplies, such as paints, brushes, and paper you may use along with your own personal supplies. Join us. It's free! No registration required.
